iPhone 17 series preorders beat iPhone 16 launch numbers

Preorder buzz around the iPhone 17 series is already outshining last year’s iPhone 16 lineup, with the Pro Max driving most of the momentum.

According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple has increased Q3 production for the iPhone 17 Pro Max, Pro, and standard models by 25% over last year. Delivery lead times are slightly longer too, suggesting stronger demand across the board.

JP Morgan’s data backs this up, noting similar or longer shipping delays for all three major variants compared to the iPhone 16 launch window.

Vivo X300 steps up with thinner bezels, Q10 Plus display, and upgraded cooling—clearly outpacing the X200 Pro mini.

Kuo calls the iPhone 17 Pro Max the standout. Apple plans to produce 60% more units of the Pro Max than its iPhone 16 predecessor. Despite that, shipping estimates have stretched to four weeks, up from around three last year.

By contrast, the iPhone 17 Pro shows a wait time of roughly three weeks, holding steady with its earlier model.

The new iPhone Air hasn’t landed as strongly. Preorders still ship on launch day, a sign of softer early demand. The delayed launch in China due to ongoing eSIM restrictions may be partly to blame.

Still, Apple seems confident. Production plans for the Air are reportedly triple those of the iPhone 16 Plus, suggesting the company expects sales to climb over time.

Apple isn’t slowing down. With ramped-up production and growing delivery windows, the iPhone 17 series looks poised for a stronger launch than last year, especially at the high end.
